The 17th Annual Festival of Speed

Taylor Earnhardt - Goodwood The 17th Annual Goodwood Festival of Speed will be held in England on July 3-5.

It’s the biggest annual car event in England and the most diverse. Hosted by the Earl of March at his family’s estate, the festival celebrates historic cars from all forms of racing.  One of the highlights of the 3-day event is a 1.16 mile hill climb for all classes and types of race cars and motorcycles.

The theme this year is “True Grit: Epic Feats of Endurance” which will pay homage to NASCAR drivers, LeMans verterans, Formula 1 and Rally drivers. A record 103 drivers and riders will be on hand including teams from Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, Team Red Bull and Rusty Wallace Inc. NASCAR Vice President of Corporate Communications, Jim Hunter will also be in attendance.

Taylor Earnhardt will drive for Richard Childress Racing in honor of her late father, a 7-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion. She will drive the black #3 that her father drove to his last career win in October 2000.

1989 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, Rusty Wallace will be back in the #2 for Penske Racing. Landon Cassill will represent Hendrick Motorsports and drive the #24 that 4-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon drove to victory lane in the All-Star race in 1997. 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion, Mike Skinner will drive a cup car for Team Red Bull, a team he currently drives for on a part-time basis.
