We’ve seen it many times before. The fastest car doesn’t always win. There are a lot of variables to winning races in this day of racin’, but it does sometimes come down to a gamble. There were only 2 cautions over the 300 mile race with the final caution flag coming out with 14 laps remaining. Logano opted not to pit even though the race leader Kyle Busch and the majority of the field decided to make a stop for 2 or 4 tires, it seemed Logano was a sitting duck. “Clean air was bigger than tires,” Logano said. “We made the right call.” Kyle Busch finished 2nd.
The Joe Gibbs Racing cars were up front all night. Logano led the race high 96 of 200 laps while Kyle Busch led 78 laps. Speaking from victory lane, Logano pointed out that each time he has won this season, Busch finished 2nd. “Joey had a better car than us tonight,” Busch said.
By the way, it’s Logano’s 3rd win this season. It was actually the 4th time this season that the 2 drivers have finished 1-2 in one combination or another. Busch is on a streak. He’s finished 1st or 2nd in the past 6 races in the series. He’s extended his lead in the series standings to 192 points over Carl Edwards.
Brian Vickers finished 3rd followed by Jason Leffler and Kevin Harvick.
