What’s New in 2010? Pony Cars debut in Nationwide Series

NNS Logo small On October 9th, NASCAR officially announced their plans to introduce the new car in the Nationwide Series. For at least a couple of the manufacturers in the sport that meant announcing their plans to introduce a “pony car” to the Series.

October 9th, Ford along with Roush Racing unveiled the new 2010 Mustang for the Nationwide Series. Mustang has been raced every since its inception, but believe it or not, never in NASCAR.

DODGE CHALLENGER NNS 2010

October 31st, Dodge along with Penske Racing introduced the Dodge Challenger. As other teams have recently split from the manufacturer, Dodge will continue to support Penske Racing in both, NASCAR’s Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series.

Both, Toyota and Chevrolet currently have no plans to switch the model of their cars they race in the Series – Camry and Impala, respectively.

The  Nationwide Series “new car” will make its on-track debut at Daytona International Speedway on July 2nd. Teams will run the “new car” in just four points-paying races this season before it’s full-time integration in the series next season.

The other races for the new car will be Aug. 14th at Michigan International Speedway, Sept. 10th at Richmond International Raceway and Oct. 23rd at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
