12 legendary drivers competed in the special 35-lap Scotts EZ Seed Showdown event following the Nationwide Series race Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.
With just 4 laps remaining, Pearson spun on the track and then took a hard hit on the driver’s side when Charlie Glotzbach slammed into Pearson’s spinning car. The impact knocked Pearson unconscious. It took over a half hour to extract Pearson from the car. He was taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation.
His father, three-time Sprint Cup Series champion David Pearson, was competing in the event, withdrew to be by his son’s side after the accident.
Glotzbach was also taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation shortly after being taken to the infield care center.
