It came down to pit strategy. Harvick inherited the lead with 33 laps remaining after making a two tire stop while most of the field took four on what would be the final pit stop in the race.
“I thought the track position was going to pay off for us,” Harvick said. “You don’t know until you put the tires on. But we were able to get out there just far enough and do what we had to do.”
“It was definitely fun,” Harvick said. “It’s a lot more fun when you win.”
It’s Harvick’s second win at Nashville and second win of the season in the series. The victory marks Harvick’s 55th combined NASCAR win tying him with Rusty Wallace for 10th on the all-time overall win list.
Reed Sorenson tried to chase Harvick down over the closing laps. “I thought I could get him [Harvick] with 10 laps to go,” Sorenson said. “When there was five laps left, I believed I could.”
Kyle Busch finished third followed by Justin Allgaier, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Scott Wimmer, Joey Logano, Michael Annett and Brendan Gaughan rounding out the top-10.

Joey Logano rode out front most of the day. He lead a race-high 122 of 225 laps. Logano made a four tire stop with just under 45 laps remaining sending him back through the field. Logano worked his way back into the top-10 over the closing laps and finished 8th.
“We had a winning car,” Logano said. “There’s no reason why we couldn’t have won. We gave it away.”
A multi-car accident involving Steve Wallace, Brendan Gaughan, Jason Keller, Michael McDowell and Mikey Kile brought out a red flag for fourteen minutes. “I saw a car get underneath me and made it four-wide there,” Steve Wallace said. “Then I got clipped in the right rear that sent me head-on into the wall.” Wallace limped away, but was cleared at the infield care center soon afterward.
There were 8 caution flags for 43 laps and 13 lead changes among 7 drivers: J. Logano 1-32; T. Raines 33; M. Shepherd 34; K. Harvick 35-36; Brad Keselowski 37-48; J. Logano 49-85; K. Harvick 86-101; Brad Keselowski 102-103; S. Wimmer 104-121; J. Logano 122-173; Brad Keselowski 174-180; J. Logano 181; K. Busch 182-191; K. Harvick 192-225
Carl Edwards holds on to his lead in the standings by 16 points over 2nd place driver, Brad Keselowski.
The Nationwide Series return to action this Friday night at Phoenix International Raceway.
