A.J. Allmendinger won his first Sprint Cup pole Friday afternoon for the Subway Fresh Fit 600!

Allmendinger’s fast lap of 26.731 seconds, 134.675 mph was tops. It’s his first top-10 start this season.

“It’s a small victory for us to get our first career pole together,” Allmendinger said. “To start up front is really cool, but the big picture is (Race Day Saturday), and that’s what we’re focused on.”

Scott Speed qualified right behind Allmendinger at 26.791 seconds, 134.373 mph.

Sam Hornish Jr. will start third followed by Marcos Ambrose, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, Juan Pablo Montoya, Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon in the top-10.
