“I bet it looked pretty cool on TV,” Sauter said.

Sauter dominated the day leading 101 of 167 laps, however Ron Hornaday Jr. looked like the driver to beat after the green flagged waved. Hornaday started from the pole and lead early for a total of 44 laps. With 13 laps remaining, Hornaday slid into Sauter while trying to challenge for the lead, turning both of them sideways.

“He got into me,” Sauter said. “I couldn’t help but sit there and think as I was trying to save it … that darn Hornaday got me again within a month’s time, but it all worked out. That was good. That was good for the fans.”

“You can’t tell me that Kansas didn’t like that one,” runner-up Hornaday said.

Todd Bodine came home third followed by Brian Ickler, Johnny Benson, Austin Dillon, Aric Almirola, Mike Skinner, Ken Schrader and David Starr completed the top-10.

It wasn’t a good day for the points leader. Timothy Peters finished 23rd, 6 laps down.
