“Once we had that last restart there,” Busch said. “I was uncertain if Joey (Logano, his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate) was going to be able to get me or not. I knew if I could get a good restart that I would have the possibility of going into turn one picking my lane, being by myself. I was able to do that, but unfortunately Joey lost a few spots in the process with spinning his tires. For us, it was a good day.”
Busch and Logano ran 1-2 throughout much of the race just like we’ve seen the teammates do more often than not. Logano fell back over the closing laps and finished 4th.
For the driver whose goal is to score 300 or more race wins across NASCAR’s top three touring series, Busch set a milestone after leading 125 of 200 laps Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He beat Mark Martin’s all-time laps led record in the series. Busch beat Martin’s record number of 8,083 laps led in 45 fewer races than it took Martin. Busch’s record now stands at 8,117 laps.
“That’s pretty cool and it comes after beating one of the best, Mark Martin,” Busch said. “There’s one more record I’m after and that’s the win record and see how many I can set.”
Kyle Busch also becomes the first driver to win multiple wins at the track in the series. No driver has won more than once in the Nationwide Series since the series debut on July 15, 1990.
“I’m proud of the fact we made it happen and we had everything go right for us today,” Busch said. The victory is his 6th this season and 36th overall.
“We were off a little at the start of the race, and we made progress, but we didn’t have enough,” series points leader, Brad Keselowski said after posting a runner-up finish and leading 64 laps.
Carl Edwards spent the day continuing to chase after Keselowski during the race as well as in the point standings. Edwards finished 3rd, one spot behind Keselowski. Edwards remains second in the point standings and trails Keselowski by 247 points.

Starting 25th, Danica Patrick hit the wall early on in the race with help by Morgan Shepherd. “He totally took me out,” she said over the radio to her crew.
Patrick finished 30th, 5 laps down. “It was definitely a long day,” she said. “It’s always tough when you start from behind and get a lap down so quickly. It was a bummer to get lapped so many times, but it was a learning process.”

Shepherd was apologetic after the race adding that drivers needed “patience” to race behind Patrick.
She plans to race in 9 more events this season for JR Motorsports.
