“It’s pretty phenomenal the race cars these guys put out. This is my 54th win in a Toyota. Can you believe that? There’s been an awful lot of them. I’m real proud of those guys and I can’t thank them enough,” Busch said. “What an awesome turnout this week. It was phenomenal. It was really, really cool.”
Without turning any practice laps in the #18, Busch dominated leading four times for 209 of 250 laps. The winning move for Busch proved to be passing Kevin Harvick for the lead with 25 laps to go.
” Harvick scared us a little bit there at the end putting on two (tires) and having a good jump there on us on the restart there,” Busch said. “But we ran him down and were able to pass him so I was pretty happy about that.”
Overall, it’s the 75th NASCAR victory for Busch.
“It’s pretty big. Man, it’s a lot of them, but it’s not quite where I want to be,” Busch said. “The big number is 200 so hopefully I can get there. We’re 25 away from cracking halfway there and I might be able to get it here in the next two years so that would be pretty cool.”
Busch, Harvick and polesitter Trevor Bayne were the only three leaders over the 250-lap race. Harvick lead 20 laps, while Trevor Bayne was out in front for 21 laps. Bayne won his third consecutive pole award at Iowa Speedway, becoming the first driver in 18 years to accomplish the feat. Jeff Gordon was the last to do so in 1992.
“Our car was really free at the beginning, but as the night came on we got tighter and we kept getting tighter and tighter and that’s what really got us at the end. If that thing would’ve ended in daylight we probably could’ve got our first win here,” Bayne said after finishing fifth. “But, we’re so happy about these top-fives every weekend. Three poles in a row, I mean, I hear that’s not very heard of so that’s awesome for this Aaron’s Dream Machine team. We’re just as excited as we can be.”
Series regular Jason Leffler scored a third place finish. The points leader Brad Keselowski went home fourth.
“The last pit stop, we took two and a bunch of guys took four (tires),” Keselowski said. “I agree with our strategy. Just so many guys took two that we just couldn’t get by all of them. It was a solid fourth-place for us. I thought that we had a second-place car. I don’t think that we had anything for Kyle, he was really strong. We were really fast; we just didn’t get what we needed to put our Discount Tire Dodge in Victory Lane. We ran well and I’m proud of all my guys.” Leaving Iowa, Keselowski leads the standings by 231 points over 2nd place, Carl Edwards.
Steve Wallace finished sixth followed by Michael Annett, Justin Allgaier, Matt DiBenedetto and Carl Edwards completing the top-10.

There were 6 cautions for 27 laps and 7 lead changes among 3 drivers: T. Bayne 0; K. Busch 1-40; T. Bayne 41; K. Busch 42-75; T. Bayne 76-95; K. Busch 96-205; K. Harvick 206-225; K. Busch 226-250
Reed Sorenson had a scary crash on lap 44. “I’m fine. We just had a little fire there. We blew a right-front (tire) there and hit the wall pretty hard. You’re just along for the ride there,” Sorenson said soon after the crash.

“I never raced here before so I was looking forward to it,” Sorenson said. “I think the reason that we blew a right-front was that we had some type of brake cooling issue. Something was going on with our brakes pretty big there so I don’t know if the brake fans weren’t working or what kind of issue we had. I don’t think we ran over anything. I think it just melted the bead. The last five laps there I was trying not to use the brakes at all and it was too late I think. This is the first DNF for us and hopefully we don’t have any more. I wish we got to take that Dollar General Camry a little bit further along, but we are finished.”
