“It’s awesome,” Bodine said about winning at the historic track. “The history behind Darlington and the great drivers that have raced here. I walked the garage area and got the Darlington stripes. The list of drivers of incredible and to be part of that and to be able to be in victory lane — I was fortunate to get one in Nationwide — and now we got one in trucks. It’s incredible. It’s a great feeling to be able to win at Darlington, for sure.”

Rookie Austin Dillon gave up the lead with 47 laps remaining to pit, but the rest of the field opted not to follow him. Bodine took the lead for the first and final time for the final 47 laps and had to hold off polesitter, Timothy Peters, after two late race restarts.

“Experience here is a huge advantage,” Bodine said. “Experience of knowing the little things that make you go fast and the little things that make you go slow, that means a lot.”

It was the first visit for the trucks at Darlington since 2004.

“Experience is definitely a big part of running well at Darlington,” Bodine said.

This is Bodine’s third victory this season and second consecutive after winning last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. Bodine extended his lead in the standings to 231 points over 2nd place driver, Aric Almirola.

“I’m very fortunate we were able to sit on the pole,” runner-up Peters said. “I wish we could’ve capped it off. We got a little behind. We took scuffs on the first stop and just got way too loose. Finally made our last adjustment, we took stickers, but we were back in the dirty air and kind of had to use it up a little early to get back to the clean air up to the front. By that time, I created a push in my truck. All in all, it was a good night for our Apex Tool Group Family Toyota Tundra.”

Ron Hornaday Jr finished third followed by Johnny Sauter, Austin Dillon, Matt Crafton, James Buescher, Stacy Compton, Aric Almirola and Ken Schrader rounded out the top-10.
