Edwards led a whopping 153 of the race’s 200 laps with what he described to his team as his “best car ever” in the series after crossing the finish line.
“I wouldn’t have imagined this thing would be that fast today,” Edwards said. “A great day for us. Man, it’s just unbelievable how fast this thing is. After three or four laps, I could do whatever I wanted with it. I’m really blessed to have the crew that I have.”
As teams prepared for a late-race caution as typically is the norm, we were treated to a long 56-lap final green flag run instead with Edwards crossing the finish line over five seconds ahead of Kevin Harvick.
Starting from the pole, Joey Logano led the first 23 laps finished third.
The recently appointed series champion, Brad Keselowski went home fourth followed by Reed Sorenson, Aric Almirola, Colin Braun, Justin Allgaier, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Steve Wallace completed the top-10.
Always a tough competitor in the series, Kyle Busch led twice for 10 laps and had one of the better cars on the track until he cut his tire late in the race. Busch finished 16th, the last car on the lead lap.
In her eleventh series start, Danica Patrick once again found trouble on the track and finished 32nd.
