2008 Atlanta Oct NSCS Carl Edwards takes the checkered flagIt’s not a 3 but a 2 day schedule for this weekend’s racing events at Atlanta Motor Speedway. A lot happened at the track when the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series garages opened up first thing this morning. There were 2 practice sessions and time trials for both series leading up to the Nationwide Series night race.

Jimmie Johnson won his first road course pole award Friday at The Glen.

He turned a lap of 71.340 seconds at 123.633 mph on the 2.45-mile road course track – good for the #1 starting spot.

It is his first pole and 17th top-10 start this season and 20th career.

58027073Deja vu. Tony Stewart crashed during practice at Pocono Raceway.

And no, this isn’t the same post from the last stop at Pocono eight weeks ago. Tony spun hard into the wall in turn 3 on the very first lap of their first practice session today. He’ll have to start in the back in a back-up car for tomorrow’s race – just like he had to do back in June. Can he pull off another win?

Dodging rain drops at Pocono Raceway!

Rain washed out qualifying Friday afternoon for the second time this year at Pocono and for the 5th time this season. Unfortunately, there’s a 50% of rain over the entire racin’ weekend in Long Pond, PA.
