Stewart held off Marcos Ambrose over the final 20 laps of the race, but with 2 to go, Smoke was gone – finishing 2.969 seconds ahead of Ambrose.

Jimmie Johnson won his first road course pole award Friday at The Glen.

He turned a lap of 71.340 seconds at 123.633 mph on the 2.45-mile road course track – good for the #1 starting spot.

It is his first pole and 17th top-10 start this season and 20th career.

A bittersweet win for Denny Hamlin at Pocono Raceway!

After leading the most laps earlier on, Hamlin found himself having to battle through the field to get back to the front. With 10 to go, Hamlin took over the lead from Clint Bowyer and held off a hard charge from Juan Pablo Montoya to score his 1st win of the season.

Jimmie Johnson grabs his 3rd win at The Brickyard!

The 48 was the fastest car in the field, when it mattered most – with 23 to go. It came down to capitalizing on Juan Pablo Montoya’s pit road error and holding off his teammate, Mark Martin to become the 1st NASCAR driver to win two consecutive Brickyard 400′s.

“It means the world to me,” Johnson said. “I got a lot of years left in me. Hopefully four, five, six time race winner here would be awfully cool.”
